Service Description
Local Number Portability allows Local Exchange Carriers (LECs) to offer local service to newly acquired customers without requiring these end users to change their old telephone numbers. BellSouth LNP Call Routing service (and associated LNP Query Service) is designed to ensure that end user calls to ported numbers reach their destination.
BellSouth LNP Call Routing service is designed specifically for the carrier that doesn't have the capability to dip a LNP Service Control Point (SCP) and does not have SS7 connectivity with BellSouth (either directly or through a third party). It is the default solution for providing resolution of ported numbers. For carriers with SS7 connectivity, BellSouth LNP Query service provides resolution of ported numbers for call completion by the carrier.
BellSouth LNP Call Routing service allows you to "drop" calls that are made to portable NXXs on the BellSouth network. When a call is "dropped", BellSouth will perform a query on the BellSouth LNP database and route the call to appropriate carrier for completion.

Also, the BellSouth LNP database is certain to have the right information because it's updated every 15 minutes. That will result in customer satisfaction, which means repeat business for you.
Service Design
With BellSouth LNP Call Routing service, you get the benefits of Local Number Portability without all the associated trouble of making it work.
When your switch detects that one of your end users has placed a call to a number in a portable NXX, you route the call to BellSouth for completion. Its that simple — we handle the rest.
Once BellSouth receives the call and determines that the called number is in a portable NXX, an AIN query is launched across our SS7 network. The BellSouth LNP Database receives the query and returns the appropriate routing information to the BellSouth switch that initiated the query. BellSouth then completes the call for you.
Pricing
BellSouth LNP Call Routing Service is tariffed in BellSouth's FCC #1 Tariff. Current rates for BellSouth LNP Call Routing Service are $0.001761 per query.
Ordering
BellSouth LNP Call Routing service is the default solution for providing translation of numbers in portable NXXs. There is no ordering requirements — queries will be billed to the appropriate access account automatically.
While LNP Call Routing will be provided without any requests or orders being placed, it is strongly recommended that you contact your Account Team to determine probable loads and ensure that your interconnection facilities are adequate to handle the anticipated volume.
