BellSouth SPA DS1 Shared Ring service is a shared, high capacity network capable of providing a redundant 1.544 Mbps transport link.

BellSouth SPA DS1 Shared Ring service provides the redundancy and risk management you need in a backbone ring by virtue of its self-healing ring properties. With DS1 Shared Ring you get diverse routing capabilities designed to prevent any single link outage event from interrupting service.

BellSouth SPA DS1 Shared Ring service operates at 1.544 Mb/s for fast point to point transmission. It provides a reliable architecture and comes at reduced prices relative to dedicated rings because it may ride facilities that are shared among multiple carriers.

Service Design

Your BellSouth SPA DS1 Shared Ring service is composed of area connections and area junctions. It's provided across a structurally diverse fiber route capable of 1.544 Mbps (equivalent to 24 DS0 level circuits).

If a segment of your DS1 Shared Ring experiences a cut or other outage, automatic switching capabilities spring to action. Within seconds your traffic will be routed to an alternate facility (structurally diverse from the facility experiencing the outage) and your service will continue as before.

BellSouth SPA DS1 Shared Ring can even survive the loss of a foreign wire center. And services that extend beyond the serving central office will survive the loss of the serving central office. That's a reliability advantage you can't get in a point-to-point network.

Availability & Pricing

BellSouth SPA DS1 Shared Ring service is available wherever facilities currently exist. Your account team will help you to determine availability on a case-by-case basis.

DS1 Shared Ring is tariffed under BellSouth's FCC #1 Tariff (Section 7) and in Section 7 of the State Access tariffs. You'll find specific rate information on both area connections and area junctions in the tariffs. Both elements are flat-rated to provide maximum value to you.

BellSouth SPA DS1 Shared Ring service is available under the Area Commitment Plan (ACP). With ACP, you can commit to a term and volume agreement and receive discounted monthly rates in exchange. And once you sign up, you lock in those rates for the term of the agreement, protecting yourself from future BellSouth-initiated price increases.

Two discounted term plans area available under ACP:

Plan A — 24 to 48 months
Plan B — 49 to 72 months

Ordering & Implementation

BellSouth SPA DS1 Shared Ring service is available where facilities are currently in place. After verifying availability, your dedicated account team will walk you through ordering DS1 Shared Ring. They'll even aid you in the design and implementation of your Shared Ring network.

To ensure you receive the most reliable services, the Service Installation Guarantee and Service Assurance Warranty apply to DS1 Shared Ring service, as set forth in applicable tariffs.

BellSouth provides its Service Installation Guarantee on SPA DS1 Shared Ring to ensure that your DS1 service is installed by the agreed to date. If BellSouth fails to meet an agreed upon installation date, you'll save on the associated non-recurring installation charges.

Once your BellSouth SPA DS1 Shared Ring service is installed, BellSouth's Service Assurance Warranty (SAW) assures you you'll receive the highest level of service. As outlined in the FCC #1 Tariff and Access Services Tariff, SAW provides you with a refund of all or part of your monthly recurring charges when your service experiences an interruption of 1 minute or more.
