CHAPTER 1.0 - Overview |
ICOs may offer telecommunications service using VoIP technology. VoIP service may be provided to fixed/static subscriber locations or to nomadic/mobile subscribers that have the ability to move locations.
ICOs may choose different methods for providing their VoIP subscriber information for the E911 databases. ICOs may provision fixed/static VoIP subscriber records as traditional wireline records following the procedures described in this Guide.
VoIP service designed for nomadic/mobile subscribers must be handled differently and requires additional interfaces to dynamically provide the subscriber information in real time during 911 call processing. Refer to the BellSouth VoIP Service Provider (VSP) E911 Guide for details on how nomadic/mobile service must be provided.
ICOs may also choose to manage fixed/static VoIP subscriber records using the same method as for nomadic/mobile subscribers.
