CHAPTER 5.0 - Interim Master Street Address Guide (IMSAG)

5.1 Overview

The Master Street Address Guide (MSAG) is the portion of the 911 database which contains address and Emergency Service Number (ESN) information. The MSAG associates customer accounts with the appropriate ESN based on the customer's address. ESNs designate routing for each E911 call to the proper Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP).

It is the responsibility of each Telephone Company participating in the E911 System implementation to provide specific street address data to BST / INTRADO based on their customer account records. This data must include all streets in each wire center that is present within the city / county / parish boundaries. When the street data is a large amount, it is provided to INTRADO for direct load into the E911 database (see Master Street Address Guide (MSAG), if the amount is small, and BST AFIG is in agreement, it may be provided to BSTon a MSAG Ledger Form for manual input into BST interim MSAG. MSAG Ledger information is provided in section entitled "MSAG Ledgers" of this guide.
