Tape Labeling

Affix a paper label on the outside of each tape reel that includes:

• ICO NAME
• VOLUME SERIAL NUMBER identifies the volume and serial number of the tape
• COUNTY NAME
• NUMBER and TYPE OF RECORDS SENT is the number of records sent and the type records is TN
• ICO CONTACT NAME and NUMBER is the name and telephone number of the contact person to report any problems that may occur at the time the tape is loaded
• ICO ADDRESS is only required if the tape should be returned
• TN/MSAG COMPARE or TN LOAD indicates how the TN data is to be used.

Tapes should be mailed overnight to:

• ASCII or EBCDIC format
• 1600 or 6250 BPI
• Logical Record Length - 512
• Tape Label - non label or standard label (non-label requested)
• CAPITAL letters only
• Sort - The file should be sorted in the order in which the records should be processed.
• Header record
• Trailer record
• Record format - fixed block
• Tape Block Size - 16 records per block (3712 characters)
• File should not contain any control records
• File should not contain duplicate TN records where the following information is the same: Function Code, Telephone Number, and Order Number
• File should contain only the header record, 911 affect data records, and the trailer record.
