7.12 TN Conversion Tape Load Specifications
Tape Labeling
Affix a paper label on the outside of each tape reel that includes:
- ICO NAME
- VOLUME SERIAL NUMBER identifies the volume and serial number of the
tape
- COUNTY NAME
- NUMBER and TYPE OF RECORDS SENT is the number of records sent and the
type records is TN
- ICO CONTACT NAME and NUMBER is the name and telephone number of the
contact person to report any problems that may occur at the time the tape
is loaded
- ICO ADDRESS is only required if the tape should be returned
- TN/MSAG COMPARE or TN LOAD indicates how the TN data is to be used.
Tapes should be mailed overnight to:

- ASCII or EBCDIC format
- 1600 or 6250 BPI
- Logical Record Length - 512
- Tape Label - non label or standard label (non-label requested)
- CAPITAL letters only
- Sort - The file should be sorted in the order in which the records should
be processed.
- Header record
- Trailer record
- Record format - fixed block
- Tape Block Size - 16 records per block (3712 characters)
- File should not contain any control records
- File should not contain duplicate TN records where the following information
is the same: Function Code, Telephone Number, and Order Number
- File should contain only the header record, 911 affect data records,
and the trailer record.
